an international relief effort to
increase laboratory capacity in high incidence AIDS
countries.
Micah Kephart
“African AIDS Crisis”
HIV/AIDS is claiming the lives of 7000
people every day. The epidemic in
sub – Saharan Africa is complex but
there are tangible ways that we can
make a difference. Micah Kephart, co
founder of Poetice, an organization
whose mission is to engage in global conversation to
artistically bring awareness to social issues, will bring
stories from his personal experience of working in Africa
addressing the AIDS crisis.

“Doctors Without Borders”
This session will describe the medical and humanitarian
organization Doctors without Borders. The session will
include information on their history, principles, response
to medical emergencies and working in the field. It will
also include personal experiences of working with HIV& MDR-TB projects in Uzbekistan and Kenya as a
laboratory scientist.

Linda Gorman “BOC Merger Update”
What does the BOC merger mean to you? As we break
new ground with this merger, many of us have been
asking this question. This session will try to address
some of our mutual concerns and questions. New
registrants will see many changes in their careers and
the BOC merger is meant to help them overcome the
challenges and be successful. Together, all of us can
make this a better profession!

Travelogue of an educational 3 week visit to
Beijing, China to study integrative medicine
at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital. An
overview of Traditional Chinese Medicine
and its integration with Western Medicine
will be given. Various Chinese cultures and
traditions will be presented.
